*Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens* (2015) takes place 30 years after the fall of the Galactic Empire. The galaxy is now divided between the oppressive First Order, led by Supreme Leader Snoke, and the Resistance, which fights to restore peace. Rey (Daisy Ridley), a scavenger on the desert planet Jakku, discovers a droid named BB-8 carrying a map to the missing Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), the last Jedi. Rey is unknowingly drawn into the conflict when she meets Finn (John Boyega), a former Stormtrooper who defects from the First Order. Together, they join Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewbacca in a mission to find Luke and stop the First Order’s new weapon, the Starkiller Base. Rey begins to uncover her connection to the Force. In a climactic battle, Han is killed by his son, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), who has fallen to the dark side. Rey takes up the quest to find Luke, setting the stage for the future.
