*Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope* (1977) follows the journey of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), a young farm boy on the desert planet of Tatooine. When he discovers a message hidden in a droid named R2-D2, he is thrust into a battle between the oppressive Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance. The message, from Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), asks for help in destroying the Empire’s superweapon, the Death Star. Luke teams up with smuggler Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Chewbacca, and the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO to rescue Leia and join the Rebel forces. Together, they face off against Darth Vader (David Prowse) and the Empire’s forces. Luke learns of his connection to the Force, a mystical energy field that gives him special abilities. In a climactic space battle, Luke uses the Force to destroy the Death Star, marking a major victory for the Rebellion and the beginning of Luke’s heroic journey.
