*Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones* (2002) takes place ten years after *The Phantom Menace*. Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) is now an apprentice Jedi under Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor). The galaxy is on the brink of war as the Republic faces a growing separatist movement led by Count Dooku (Christopher Lee). When Senator Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman) survives an assassination attempt, Anakin is assigned to protect her. During their time together, they develop a forbidden romance. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan investigates the assassination plot, discovering that a clone army has been secretly created for the Republic. As tensions rise, war breaks out between the Galactic Republic and the separatist forces, leading to the Battle of Geonosis. Anakin and Obi-Wan face off against Count Dooku, and Anakin begins to show signs of his darker destiny. The film sets the stage for the rise of the Empire and Anakin’s eventual fall to the dark side.
