**District 9 (2009)** is a science fiction film set in Johannesburg, South Africa, where an alien species, known as “Prawns,” has been stranded on Earth for years. The story follows Wikus van de Merwe, a bureaucrat who is assigned to oversee the relocation of these aliens from their slum-like camp, District 9, to a new area. During the operation, Wikus is exposed to an alien substance that begins to transform him into one of the Prawns. As his humanity fades, he becomes a fugitive, teaming up with a Prawn named Christopher to seek refuge and escape a corrupt military corporation that is conducting experiments on the aliens. The film explores themes of xenophobia, segregation, and the abuse of power.
